Power keeps tripping?
What it means, and the one safe check.

The safety switch is doing its job. Find the faulty appliance, or call a licensed electrician.

Why does my power keep tripping? The safety switch is doing its job. Find the faulty appliance, or call a licensed electrician.

The one safe check

Unplug everything on the circuit that tripped and reset it once. Plug things back in one at a time. If one appliance trips it, stop using it. If it trips with everything unplugged, leave it off.

When it is serious

A burning smell, or a power point, switch or switchboard that is hot, buzzing or scorched. Switch off at the main switch if it is safe and get out if there is smoke. Fire: call 000.

Who to call

A licensed electrician, every time. In Queensland, wiring is never a DIY job.

Need it done? Send photos of the job, no account needed, or call 0458 381 559. Linc Point arranges licensed local trades from Bribie Island to Helensvale, including Logan, Ipswich and Redlands.

Quick answers
