Storm ready score.
Ten questions, two minutes.

A quick self-check of your home before storm season, with a list of what to sort first.

From Lincoln and Josh at Linc Point · Updated October 2026

Ten quick questions about your place. Answer honestly and you get a simple score, plus a short list of what is worth sorting before the storms. To see your full result, we ask for your name, mobile, email and suburb, so Linc has a copy and can follow up if you want help.

If you cannot tell, pick "Not sure". It counts as something to check, because if you cannot see it, it is worth someone having a look.

  1. 1.Have your gutters been cleaned out in the last few months?
  2. 2.When it rains hard, does water run out the bottom of your downpipes, rather than spilling over the gutters?
  3. 3.Are trees and branches clear of your roof and gutters?
  4. 4.From the ground, does the roof look right, with no cracked, slipped or missing tiles and no lifted sheets?
  5. 5.As far as you can tell, is the roof free of rust, loose screws, crumbling ridge capping and lifting flashings?
  6. 6.Are your ceilings free of water stains, damp patches and mould?
  7. 7.If a warning came through, could you tie down or bring in the outdoor furniture, bins, trampoline and toys within half an hour?
  8. 8.Are the shade sails, carport and pergola in good condition, with tight fixings and no rust or rot? Answer yes if you have none.
  9. 9.Do you have recent photos of your home and your insurance details somewhere easy to find?
  10. 10.Do you have an emergency kit, and the SES number (132 500) saved in your phone?

How the score works

One point for every yes. A no or a not sure scores nothing and goes on your list of things to sort. Nine or ten is in good shape. Six to eight means a few things to get done. Five or under means it is worth getting on to it before the season gets going.

The questions follow the same basics the Queensland Government's Get Ready Queensland program recommends: check the roof, clear the gutters and downpipes, trim back branches, fix rust, loose fittings and rot, and secure loose items.

What it is not

This is a quick self-check to help you decide what to do first. It is not an inspection, and a good score does not mean your home cannot be damaged. Storms do not read checklists.

If the roof questions were mostly "Not sure", that is normal. Most people cannot see their roof properly from the ground. That is exactly what our Free Storm Ready Check is for. We look over the roof, gutters, downpipes and the outside of the home, take photos and give you a short written summary. If something needs fixing, we put the quote together and line up the right local trade.
