Storm season on the Sunshine Coast.
Two kinds of home.
There are really two kinds of home here. Along the coast, from Pelican Waters to Coolum, it is salt air, wind off the water, and a lot of sails and outdoor living. Up the hill in Buderim, Nambour, Palmwoods and the hinterland, it is bigger trees, steeper blocks, and gutters that fill with leaves faster than you would expect.
- Coastal homes. Check metal roofs, screws, flashings and gutters for rust each year.
- Hinterland and hillside homes. More trees means more leaf litter. Gutters and roof valleys may need clearing more than once a season.
- Steep blocks. Make sure stormwater has somewhere to go, and keep yard drains and grates clear.
- Retaining walls. We are not engineers. If a retaining wall is leaning, cracking or bulging, get an engineer to look at it before the wet weather.
